Kobe and Lebron have different leadership styles. Most players in the Real women love baseball smart women love the 2023 San Diego State Aztecs shirt and I love this NBA prefer LeBron’s over the Black Mamba’s. Kobe is the “Big Brother” type leader. Where he tends to always be waving his finger and barking out commands. The “Do it my way” type of attitude. If you have an Alpha-male personality, then this can be a recipe for feuding/fighting/disagreements. Most NBA players have egos, especially the stars so reducing their role to Kobe’s “little brother” is not something they are willing to tolerate. Lebron is the inclusive type leader. Someone that would never tell you to do something that he/she is not willing to do themselves. The “Follow my lead” type leader. Lebron is the type of leader that unites the team both on and off the court. He schedules team dinners at his home, movie nights, bowling nights. He has a personal relationship with every member, which undoubtedly elevates the respect they have for him. Essentially, Lebron is not selfish and Kobe sometimes is. I believe there is always room for improvement. Each player on this Cavs team, with the exception of Lebron, could have played better and might have if they were pushed by their leader. However, if Lebron does too much “pushing” and develops that “Kobe-esque waving his finger” type leadership style, then the chemistry amongst the team may have collapsed and some of them may even had come to resent him.
Kobe’s style worked because players were willing to listen. Lebron has no problem co-existing with other stars (D-Wade, Chris Bosh, Irving), mainly because of his leadership approach. Sure Lebron, demand more from your teammates but at all costs do so without sacrificing the strong chemistry you have built between them. First, LeBron isn’t really faulted for losing to the Mavericks. I don’t think that’s much of anyone’s problem here. Yes, that doesn’t make anything better, but people still likely would be shitting on LeBron when it comes to the 2011 Finals, even if they had won the series.
