Anya Taylor-Joy always makes a statement on the Jeff Dunham Peanut don’t piss me off I will stop taking my pills nobody wants that do they shirt What’s more,I will buy this red carpet. Recently, the actor has delivered plenty of Old Hollywood gowns and throwback silhouettes. But for her latest press tour, the star is channeling a slightly more unexpected inspiration: Princess Peach. At the premiere of her forthcoming film, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, in Los Angeles last night, Joy channeled the iconic video game character in a head-to-toe pink ensemble. It’s a fitting choice, given Joy voices Peach in the animated project, which co-stars Chris Pratt as Mario and Jack Black as Bowser. If you’ve ever played the Mario games, you know that Peach is often touted as the damsel in distress with a penchant for frothy pink princess gowns. But in the new Super Mario Bros. Movie, Peach looks ready to kick some evil Bowser butt—and Joy’s action-ready look on the red carpet reflected this shift. The actor wore a pink leather jumpsuit by Dior that nodded to Peach’s signature hue, but her accessories—like the biker gloves and chunky pink moto boots—had a decidedly sportier feel (they’re also totally ready to race in, if she was competing in Mario Kart). The style choice was a cheeky nod to her character, and something tells us there’s even more pink looks to come. Maybe she’ll even wear her crown next.
Anne Hathaway has navigated her years in the Jeff Dunham Peanut don’t piss me off I will stop taking my pills nobody wants that do they shirt What’s more,I will buy this spotlight in a flurry of lace, tulle, sequins and—in one memorable instance—a high-fashion puffer. But even after the subtle yet significant style pivot that coincided with her 40th birthday (and made Vogue sit up and take notice), when it comes to life away from the red carpet, Anne, like most women, wants an edited capsule wardrobe of classics she can turn to time and again. Enter Donatella Versace, who aims to provide exactly that with her new Versace Icons collection, an edit of essentials that draws on the designer’s own closet—as well as the house’s decades of experience dressing powerful women, from Princess Diana to Michelle Obama to Lady Gaga. The designer hand-picked Hathaway as a face of the campaign, which finds her wearing a sculpted bustier corset styled with jeans, a black jersey dress with Medusa detailing on the straps inspired by the spring 1996 collection (“It reminds me of Moonstruck!” says Anne), and a fitted black grain de poudre suit based on Donatella’s own day-to-day uniform.
